Exersaucer for $3. Oh yeah.
I love getting good deals!
I'm so excited, I'm gonna share my excitement! Give yourselves one extra entry into all of my current giveaways. Just say "I love a good deal!"
Mom and I also hit up a garage sale at the last minute! For about $3 she got us this leap frog learning toy for Collin! She also got herself a walker for a dollar and some clothes for Collin! Wahoo!
This past weekend my brother-in-law got married! In fact, he married my cousin! I know what you're thinking.."hmm..I didn't see anything on her blog about supporting inbreeding..." NO NO, it's nothing like that! We introduced my husband's brother to my cousin (no relation, AT ALL) a little over a year ago and they really hit it off. Well, they got married last weekend and my little man was the ring bearer! We had a great time at the reception. This mama was a dancin' fool! Usually, I have to have quite a few drinks in me before I get out there and bust a move but since I'm nursing, I just gave up alcohol all together...so there I was...shakin' it...clear and sober...The best part was...everyone around me was NOT clear and sober...so my dancing fit right in with theirs!!
We also got to visit my grandparents who I haven't seen in over a year. I was so glad they got to meet Collin. My grandma tried to hold him but he was too heavy!! They seemed tickled that they got to see and hold him. I'm so glad Collin could spend some time with them. I wish it could be more but time and distance seem to get in the way...
My parents were visiting my grandparents too, so we got some face time with them as well! My mom and dad love their little guy very much! They always talk about how big he has gotten each time they see him. They don't get to see him as often as they'd like either...damn distance getting in the way again.
You can find Tree Huggin' Designs on Etsy! She makes so many great things that I want to try! In addition to SUPER cute cloth wipes, you will find wool dryer balls, blankets, organic personalized onesies, and wetbags! She also uses Upcycled materials to make some of her creations -- that means that they are made "from upcycled fabric that was going to be thrown in a dump. You can feel ultra-tree hugger knowing that not only are you saving hundreds of wipes from the landfill, but you saved this fabric too!"
Okay, okay, onto the review! Heather sent me 5 cloth wipes from her etsy shop. Here's what she has to say about the wipes: "The cloth wipes featured in my shop are hand cut and machine sewn. They are 2 layers of snuggle flannel for an extra soft touch on Baby's bum. When constructed they are sewn together, turned and top stitched for added durability since, if you are anything like me, you will be washing these over and over again. They come in a variety of fun patterns too! All of them are made from new fabric unless specified otherwise."
So, I had the best of intentions when it came to making food for Collin. I was going to grow my own food and make it all up for him! But, then I got to review some Plum Organics foods and lost my drive. I felt guilty for awhile about not making Collin food. But then I talked to my mom who said "Crystal-you are breastfeeding and cloth diapering. I think it's okay if you buy him food..." So, I decided I agreed!
So, anyways, back to why I bought the EcoPass. You see, EcoMom has a deal running this July. You can buy an EcoPass for $99 and it's good FOR LIFE. You get 15% off of EVERYTHING and FREE SHIPPING. At first, my husband and I weren't sure we wanted to spend that $99. But we see how much Collin likes the foods and how convenient they are...and how much we use them...and we decided it would be worth it for us to buy the pass. I already ordered Collin some more vegetable/fruit mixes and it was nice not having to pay the $11 shipping charge! I know we'll be out of this stage in a few months, but we aren't done having kids either.
They do sell other things besides baby foods, so I may end up making other purchases and it'll be nice to save the 15% and not have to pay shipping. I have to say, usually, when you have to buy a special membership to something, I say pass. But I've really become a fan of EcoMom. I think it's cool that I can get direct help via facebook or twitter. I feel good about spending money with this company.
So, what is so awesome about this diaper? To begin with, they are made out of recycled plastic bottles; the fabric is called EcoSpun® recycled performance fleece. "The Ecospun® fabric wicks moisture away from the skin toward the breathable outer layer, where air circulates to dry any accumulating moisture." Although these diapers are completely soft (no PUL), there is no cover needed! You can choose either certified organic cotton or StayDry as a skin layer. These are pocket diapers, so you will need to stuff them. Lollidoo sells their own inserts called Innies™. "Organic Innies™ are available as pocket diaper absorbency inserts, flat diapers, fitted diapers, prefold diapers, and contour diapers (COMING SOON)." But, you can also use your own insert preferences.
So what's my personal experience with this diaper? We use this diaper every night! All I stuff it with is a flat hemp insert wrapped around a hemp doubler. Collin has gone 12 hours and got a big morning poo (sorry, tmi) in before I could change him -- WITH NO LEAKS!! Nothing was even close to coming out!And trust me, Collin is a heavy wetter--you might call him the Niagara Falls of heavy wetters.
Over the last month or so, Collin has shown that there is one song that can calm him down when he's fussy, tired, bored...etc. And that song, is "Old McDonald" -- cracks me up! He can be fussing and then I start to sing that song and he just stops and stares at me. If we're traveling in the car and he's getting bored, I sing him that song. You'd be amazed at all the animals Old McDonald has on the farm--pigs, cows, sheep, horses, birds, cats, dogs, lions, monkeys, Collins, mommies, daddies..the list goes on!
Ok, so I don't know if there's already something like this in the blog world but I'm going to claim it as mine for the time being :)
