Weekend Recap

This past weekend my brother-in-law got married! In fact, he married my cousin! I know what you're thinking.."hmm..I didn't see anything on her blog about supporting inbreeding..." NO NO, it's nothing like that! We introduced my husband's brother to my cousin (no relation, AT ALL) a little over a year ago and they really hit it off.  Well, they got married last weekend and my little man was the ring bearer! We had a great time at the reception.  This mama was a dancin' fool! Usually, I have to have quite a few drinks in me before I get out there and bust a move but since I'm nursing, I just gave up alcohol all together...so there I was...shakin' it...clear and sober...The best part was...everyone around me was NOT clear and sober...so my dancing fit right in with theirs!!

We also got to visit my grandparents who I haven't seen in over a year.  I was so glad they got to meet Collin.  My grandma tried to hold him but he was too heavy!! They seemed tickled that they got to see and hold him.  I'm so glad Collin could spend some time with them.  I wish it could be more but time and distance seem to get in the way...

My parents were visiting my grandparents too, so we got some face time with them as well! My mom and dad love their little guy very much! They always talk about how big he has gotten each time they see him.  They don't get to see him as often as they'd like either...damn distance getting in the way again.

It was a great weekend (minus the rehearsal dinner at which Collin screamed and cried--he was tired and it was way too loud).  I made sure to write about it in Collin's journal!

Don't forget about the extra entry oppotunity floating around this week...

Have you seen my Laundry Love for this week?  It'd be worth it to check it out :)

...Lean not on your own understanding

Today I attended a funeral for 3 teenage siblings who died in a house fire.  I was fortunate to have had one of these students in class this past year.  I dread attending any funeral, but this one was especially heartbreaking.  The pastor did a phenomenal job and had a good message.  I wondered/worried that he would try and explain or justify this tragedy but I was way off.  He simply reminded us that we needed to put our trust and faith in God and lean not on our own understanding.  A tragedy like this can't be explained, rationalized, or understood.  We just have to trust that God is in control.  For a non-believer, I'm sure that provides no solace.  But I am a believer and it did give me some solace.  I've been repeating that verse over and over today...it's hard to accept at times, but I do trust God and I do have faith in Him.  The pastor also reminded us that these children are with God now; they are in Heaven..a place so wonderful we can't even fathom or begin to comprehend.  God was prepared for them and has welcomed them with open arms.  He reminded us that so long as believe in Jesus, we will get to see these kiddos again...and I will.

A particularly moving party of the ceremony was when everyone was asked to share memories or stories about the kids.  It was heartbreaking to hear the kids share their stories and break down crying.  The youngest was going to be in 6th grade so some of his friends shared their stories.  The middle child was going to be in high school this coming fall.  One girl talked about how she always had a crush on him and was so excited to finally have a class with him last year!  The oldest child was going to be a senior.  Both her best friend and boyfriend shared their stories, the plans they had been making.  It was difficult to hear, but it brought smiles and laughter to the mourners.

I can't even begin to know what their parents are going through, to have lost all of their children.  It brings tears to my eyes and pain to heart just thinking about it.  But they have a strong church family and faith in God that they will hopefully turn to for solace.  I will pray for them for years to come.  And I will continue to try and trust in God with all my heart and lean not on my own understanding...because this can't be understood.

I wanted to share one last thing.  The parents had asked the preacher to share with us how we, too, could secure a place for ourselves in Heaven.  They said that their kids had such strong faiths in God that they wanted to use this time to reach out to those who haven't yet asked Jesus into their hearts.  What an unselfish and loving thing to do...

So once again I ask that if you believe in God or prayer, keep this family in your prayers.  They are going to need it for many years to come.

And the Lollidoo Overnight Eco-Pocket Winner Is...

TAMMY! Comment #777! Congratulations! I will be emailing you shortly! You have 48 hours to respond or a new winner will be chosen.  *Just a note-my counter starts over at 200--so although it says comment 177, it is actually comment 777*

Thank you to everyone who entered! I wish you all could have won! If you didn't win, don't be discouraged! I have several more giveaways coming up! Including another lollidoo!! Also, once we raise half of the fundraising goal (1,000) I will do a giveaway in which the winner can choose ANY cloth diaper they want! I'll do it again if we reach our goal of 2,000!

If you still really want a Lollidoo, I did some searching on the internet and it looks like Fluff Envy has a good sale with them going for $29.  It might sound steep, but remember, it's a nighttime diaper so you don't need twenty of them--just 2 or 3!

A big thank you goes out to my anonymous sponsor...you know who you are! Thank you for your generosity!

Tree Huggin' Designs Cloth Wipes Giveaway

***CLOSED****
When Heather from Tree Huggin' Designs heard about my "Fluff Baby Home" event, she wanted to help! I was so excited when she sent me a set of cloth wipes to review.  Before I tell you how wonderful these wipes are and how I no longer want to use anything else, let me tell you a little about Tree Huggin' Designs.

You can find Tree Huggin' Designs on Etsy! She makes so many great things that I want to try! In addition to SUPER cute cloth wipes, you will find wool dryer balls, blankets, organic personalized onesies, and wetbags! She also uses Upcycled materials to make some of her creations -- that means that they are made "from upcycled fabric that was going to be thrown in a dump. You can feel ultra-tree hugger knowing that not only are you saving hundreds of wipes from the landfill, but you saved this fabric too!"

Okay, okay, onto the review! Heather sent me 5 cloth wipes from her etsy shop.  Here's what she has to say about the wipes:  "The cloth wipes featured in my shop are hand cut and machine sewn.  They are 2 layers of snuggle flannel for an extra soft touch on Baby's bum.  When constructed they are sewn together, turned and top stitched for added durability since, if you are anything like me, you will be washing these over and over again.  They come in a variety of fun patterns too!  All of them are made from new fabric unless specified otherwise."

My opinion:

Likes:

1.  Size:  These wipes are huge! They completely cover my chunky monkey's bum when I'm cleaning him!

2.  Fabric:  These wipes feel like your favorite t shirt or blanket.  They are so soft, which I love since they are used on Collin's sensitive bum.

3.  Designs:  There are so many options to choose from! She sent me a mixed set of cloths and I loved all the prints! Good luck choosing your favorite when you buy some from her!

4. Durability:  These wipes are the first ones I grab so they have been washed a ton! The stitching is still strong as ever--no fraying or anything.

5.  Maker: I  love supporting moms who are crafty enough to make the things I wish I could make!

Dislikes:
1.  I dislike that I don't have any more.  :(

So, would you like try these cloth wipes?  Well, you can buy a set of 5 for  $6.00 or you can win a set of 10 right here! The winner will get to choose between a set of boy, girl, or gender neutral wipes! *In picture: Top = Girl, Middle = Gender Neutral, Bottom = Boy*

*You Must Complete the Mandatory Entry for all other entries to be valid.  If you don't complete the mandatory entry, your other entries will not count.  Be sure to leave your email if it is not visible in your profile.  If I cannot contact you, I will choose another winner.

Prayer Request

Early this morning, 3 teenagers died in a house fire in my town.  One of the students I had in class this year.  He was an excellent student and just a good kid.  It breaks my heart that this happened.  The pit in my stomach is indescribable....

And I know as awful as I feel, his parents and all of the firemen and first responders are having to deal with so much more.

Please, if you believe in God or prayer, say a prayer for their family and friends.

Thank you.

Big Booby Dilema

So...I needed to buy a strapless bra for a wedding this weekend.  Since I'm nursing, the ladies are still pretty large and in charge (tmi?  sorry).  Anyways, I got a Victoria's Secret giftcard for my birthday (thanks, Mom) and was so excited to go get a bra from there! Yeah...did you know they don't carry a 40 in strapless...at least not at this store?  Yep, me neither.  So, full of disappointment, we went to JC Penney's.  Lo and Behold, they had my size..but you know what kind of pisses me off?  The only colors they have are black, white, and nude.  There's no cute polka dots.  No fun stripes.  No cute designs with sequence.  Nope, just ugly black, white, and nude.

But here's what I figure.  Apparently, smaller boobs need to be dressed up to be attractive; but, if you have some fair sized ladies, they speak for themselves--they don't need the frills....but you know what?  Big boobs want to be cute too!

Just sayin...

Thanks all!

Why I bought the EcoPass from EcoMom

So, I had the best of intentions when it came to making food for Collin. I was going to grow my own food and make it all up for him! But, then I got to review some Plum Organics foods and lost my drive.  I felt guilty for awhile about not making Collin food.  But then I talked to my mom who said "Crystal-you are breastfeeding and cloth diapering.  I think it's okay if you buy him food..."  So, I decided I agreed!

First of all, if you haven't tried plum organic foods, you should.  Collin absolutely loves all the kinds we've tried.  It seems to be the only solid food he'll actually eat.  Secondly, if you make your own baby food, I think that's awesome! And I'm sure you are saving a ton by doing it.  But...I just can't beat the convenience of the plum organics meals.  Each individual package seems to give us 2 days worth of meals for Collin.  They run about $1/package.  It's just so nice to grab one out of the cupboard at supper time and feed Collin while we eat our meal.  And then to just twist the cap back on and put it in the fridge.

So, anyways, back to why I bought the EcoPass.  You see, EcoMom has a deal running this July.  You can buy an EcoPass for $99 and it's good FOR LIFE.  You get  15% off of EVERYTHING and FREE SHIPPING.  At first, my husband and I weren't sure we wanted to spend that $99.  But we see how much Collin likes the foods and how convenient they are...and how much we use them...and we decided it would be worth it for us to buy the pass.  I already ordered Collin some more vegetable/fruit mixes and it was nice not having to pay the $11 shipping charge! I know we'll be out of this stage in a few months, but we aren't done having kids either.

They do sell other things besides baby foods, so I may end up making other purchases and it'll be nice to save the 15% and not have to pay shipping.  I have to say, usually, when you have to buy a special membership to something, I say pass.  But I've really become a fan of EcoMom.  I think it's cool that I can get direct help via facebook or twitter.  I feel good about spending money with this company.

So, if you haven't heard of EcoMom, you really should check them out.  And if you get curious and want to try the plum organics foods (or anything else), you can use my coupon referral code: SB004445 and save 15% off your first order.

So, just for fun,  If you "like" EcoMom on facebook, give yourself an extra entry into the Lollidoo Giveaway! Follow EcoMomCeo on twitter and give yourself one more extra entry into the Lollidoo Giveaway.

Make your first purchase using my coupon code and get 5 extra entries!

Buy your own EcoPass and get 10 extra entries!

This is how awesome I think EcoMom is :)

*PS-if you are wondering if I was asked to write this, I wasn't.  I just really like EcoMom and Plum Organics and have been wanting to share this.

My sister is so awesome

My little man is the ring bearer in his uncle's wedding this weekend so my little sister made him the outfit he is going to wear! Never mind the fact that I waited until the last minute to even think about getting him anything.  Never mind the fact that I didn't give my sister a heads up that I needed her to do this.  Thankfully, April stepped in and saved the day!

She made his vest, tie, and pants from scratch.  We bought an XS boy's dress shirt and she custom fit it to Collin....all in one night...did I mention I love my sister?

When all is said and done...doesn't he look adorable? ;)

Winner of the Rockin' Green giveaway by Happy Cotton Tails is...

Congratulations Rachel S! I am emailing you right now.  You will have 48 hours to respond or a new winner will be drawn.

Thank you to everyone who participated.  If you didn't win, don't be discouraged! I have several more giveaways coming up, including a Rockin' Green Bundle!!

Lollidoo Overnight Eco-Pocket with Flair

Lollidoo Overnight Eco-Pocket Review and Giveaway*CLOSED*

***CLOSED***

Do you have a heavy wetter?  Are you double and triple stuffing your pocket or AIO diapers?  Well, stop that! And come learn about Lollidoo Overnight Eco-Pocket cloth diapers.  They are, without a doubt, the absolute BEST night time cloth diaper.  I know what you're thinking..really, Crystal, the best?  YES! I don't need to try any other diapers to know it either.

Now let me begin by assuring you that I am not being compensated for this review, nor did I receive a product in exchange for this review.  I won a Lollidoo Overnight Eco-Pocket a few months back; so the only thing I have invested in this diaper is the time I spent tweeting about it.  I was just fortunate enough to get a sponsor who wanted to donate this diaper.

Before I tell you how awesome this diaper is, let me tell you a little bit about the makers of Lollidoo diapers.

Go Green Sustainable Industries was started by two women: Alison and Melissa. They "have set a mission to create products and run business in respect for families, communities and the environment. Believing firmly in the “buy local” philosophy, Melissa and Alison have established a manufacturing facility in Newman Lake, Washington, where Melissa runs the day-to-day operations. Alison manages sales and marketing from her home in Tucson, Arizona."  How awesome is that?  I have said before that some of the greatest products are born out of a necessity or desire for something different.  Lollidoo diapers are no exception.

And you want to know something just as cool?  It's an American Made diaper (and that includes the snaps an elastic too!).  Lollidoo's are made right here in the good US of A.

So, what is so awesome about this diaper?  To begin with, they are made out of recycled plastic bottles; the fabric is called EcoSpun® recycled performance fleece.  "The Ecospun® fabric wicks moisture away from the skin toward the breathable outer layer, where air circulates to dry any accumulating moisture."  Although these diapers are completely soft (no PUL), there is no cover needed! You can choose either certified organic cotton or StayDry as a skin layer. These are pocket diapers, so you will need to stuff them.  Lollidoo sells their own inserts called Innies™.  "Organic Innies™ are available as pocket diaper absorbency inserts, flat diapers, fitted diapers, prefold diapers, and contour diapers (COMING SOON)."  But, you can also use your own insert preferences.

These diapers are also One Size Fits All.  There are recyclable stainless steel snap settings as well as hidden elastic leg settings that are super easy to adjust--you just cinch it up or let it out.  And the elastic stays hidden, even after you wash it.  To be honest, I didn't even know it was there when I first got the diaper! It was set to Collin's size (Chunkster).  I only just learned about this!

So what's my personal experience with this diaper?  We use this diaper every night! All I stuff it with is a flat hemp insert wrapped around a hemp doubler.  Collin has gone 12 hours and got a big morning poo (sorry, tmi) in before I could change him -- WITH NO LEAKS!! Nothing was even close to coming out!And trust me, Collin is a heavy wetter--you might call him the Niagara Falls of heavy wetters.

Also, the diaper feels like a comfy sweatshirt; it is so soft on Collin's skin.

I have absolutely nothing negative to say about this diaper.  This is how much I love it.

Lollidoo is such a cool company, I'm not sure this review has done it justice! Head over to their website and learn about how both the diaper and the company are eco-friendly.  It is truly amazing!

Okay, so do I have you hooked?  Do you want one?

Well, you can get it one of 2 ways!

You can buy it! Any of these fine retailers can sell you this amazing diaper.  It will run you between 29-32 dollars, depending on who's having a sale.  In fact, right now, Fluff Envy is having a sale since they just started carrying Lollidoo! Trust me, it is WORTH the price.

OR

You can win it! One lucky reader will win a black Lollidoo Overnight Eco-Pocket with Flair (balloons!).  In addition to the diaper, you will also receive 3 Innies! I'm so jealous...I wish I could enter to win this diaper!

*You Must Complete the Mandatory Entry for all other entries to be valid.  If you don't complete the mandatory entry, your other entries will not count.  Be sure to leave your email if it is not visible in your profile.  If I cannot contact you, I will choose another winner.

I'm feeling very blessed tonight...

Tonight I was in the kitchen making a pie and my husband and son were playing in the living room.  I was looking out the window at the corn and the sunset while listening to my son giggle up a storm and I had to take a deep breath.  This is the life I dreamed of having.  My loving husband, my sweet son, in our own home that we built.  I don't dream of being a millionaire.  I don't dream of having lots of stuff.  I dream of having a happy family who appreciates the simple country life that we live.  And tonight I had one of those moments where I realized that God has given us that dream...

Do you ever have those simple moments that just take your breath away and bring little tears to your eyes?  If you haven't, I hope that you do...it's wonderful.

Comforting Songs

Over the last month or so, Collin has shown that there is one song that can calm him down when he's fussy, tired, bored...etc.  And that song, is "Old McDonald" -- cracks me up! He can be fussing and then I start to sing that song and he just stops and stares at me.  If we're traveling in the car and he's getting bored, I sing him that song.  You'd be amazed at all the animals Old McDonald has on the farm--pigs, cows, sheep, horses, birds, cats, dogs, lions, monkeys, Collins, mommies, daddies..the list goes on!

We love it!

Do your kids have a song that they particularly love?  I'd love to hear about it!

Awesome Fundraising Event

As I'm hosting my own fundraising event using cloth diaper giveaways,  it is only fitting that I share with you the Real Diaper Association's $3500 in 35 days FundRaising Campaign.  They need funding to continue to employ their Executive Director.

The "RDA continues to play a leading role in the cloth diaper movement, training and supporting grassroots advocates to lead local Real Diaper Circles, compiling and distributing research on the subject, working with the media and other businesses and organizations to increase awareness about cloth diapers, and providing direct reliable, unbiased support for consumers."

You can show your support in couple ways!
Also, EcoChicParties is hosting a party this Thursday night at 9 p.m.
You can register here: http://7sgs8.th8.us/

Great cloth diaper prizes are up for grabs!

I have a problem...

So, it seems that I cannot get in my car and drive without talking on the cell phone.  I don't know why.  I know it isn't safe but I'm not kidding, the minute I pull out of the garage, I'm flipping my phone open calling my mom, my husband, my friend...it's ridiculous!

Does anyone else have this problem? Maybe I should put the phone in the diaper bag in the back and not look at it again until we are out of the car....

What do you guys do?

Donation Entries Seem Overwhelming?

Have you been thinking about donating but the thought of entering 25 or 50 comments seems too daunting or time consuming?

Well, I have a deal for you.  If you don't care when your 25 or 50 comments are entered, shoot me an email: biehladventures@hotmail.com  and let me know that you want me to enter your donation comments for you throughout the giveaways.

Once I see that you have completed the mandatory entry, I will enter your donation comments.

This will apply to all giveaways except the FuzziBunz because it ends in just a few hours.

You still have to enter the other extra entries, but I will take care of the donation entries--it's the least I could do!

Rockin' Green Classic Rock Orangevana Giveaway by Happy Cotton Tails

*CLOSED*

Here comes Peter Cotton Tail...hoppin' down the bunny trail...

Ever since I found the cloth diaper store Happy Cotton Tails, that song just runs through my head! Have you been to Happy Cotton Tails? Well, if not, let me share some info about this great shop!

Happy Cotton Tails is a "mommy owned company offering natural, eco-friendly products for mommies and babies."  She carries so many of the cloth diaper brands that we all love: Happy Heinys, Rumparooz, Bumgenius, FuzziBunz, Thirsties..the list goes on. In addition to the cloth diapers, she also carries liners, doublers and inserts too!

But her shop doesn't stop with cloth diapers! You can also purchase natural laundry and cleaning products like Rockin' Green soap and wool dryer balls.  Need wetbags or pail liners?  Don't worry...she carries those too!

Are you wanting to shop for yourself?  Well, she's got you covered there! She carries Mother of Eden comfort pads and Taylor Made slings.

One of my favorite sections...the Clearance section! She has great deals on Drybees diapers and Bumkins Demi Diaper Totes right now!

Lastly, and very important, she offers free shipping on orders over $49.99 and it's same day shipping. All detergent gets shipped Priority Mail at no extra cost.  How great is that?!

The Giveaway:

Happy Cotton Tails was kind enough to donate a 45/90 bag of Rockin' Green Classic Rock Orangevana to one of my readers!

Now, I have not used Rockin' Green yet, but I've heard great things! Here's what Happy Cotton Tails has to say about it:

"Are you sick and tired of battling with stinky diapers? Then Rockin' Green should be on your cloth diaper playlist! It comes in 3 rockin' formulas and tons of sweet fragrances, which is music to anyones ears. Classic Rock: This is the sound that started it all. Our original formula is great for diapers and regular clothes. So use it on everything! This formula is designed for those with middle of the road water, not too soft and not too hard. When in doubt start with classic rock! Available in several yummy fragrances and unscented!"

There are two ways to get a bag of this detergent:
Buy it for 13.95 from Happy Cotton Tails
