I'm the wife to an amazing man and the mother to 2 wonderful sons!
This blog is about sharing my adventures in breastfeeding, cloth diapering, raising my sons, being a wife, and life in general. So join me on my journey and share in all of the adventures we're sure to have along the way!
We always get our tree the day after Thanksgiving. This year we drove to Michigan to pick out a blue spruce tree. Those trees are too expensive in Indiana. We justified the trip by making to sure to visit our friend that lives up there! I'm just a bit picky when it comes to Christmas trees...and thankfully my hubby knows and understands that, lol! Why else would he agree to drive 3 hours to get a tree?!
We also begin watching our favorite Christmas movies! We start with Home Alone -- always making sure to have popcorn and soda at the ready! Then we watch Home Alone 2 and then Christmas Vacation. This year we got to watch Christmas Vacation on the big screen! My hubby's work had a dinner and then we all went to the local theater and watched the movie along with our free concessions! It was a fun night!
Lastly, Christmas gifts. Mark and I only buy each other an ornament from Hallmark each year. Neither of us really likes shopping so this eliminates having to shop for each other! We generally try to pick an ornament that has meaning...like last year, I made sure to get him the Home, Sweet, Home ornament since we had moved into the new house we built. This year, I got him a Star Wars Clone Wars ornament because he started watching and liking that show this year! We also buy Collin an ornament each year (this will be the 2nd year). Mark's parents did that for him every year and for me once we started dating! They still give us each an ornament every year! Our tree has quite the Hallmark collection! LOL!
Mark started this whole ornament tradition for us right before we started dating nearly 11 years ago. Just before I left the halls at school for Christmas Break, Mark came over and gave me a Scooby-Doo ornament (I was a big fan back then). We weren't dating just then, but I was sure hoping! Anyways, I made it out to the car and my mom saw what he gave me and said "Oh it's a match made in Heaven!" HA! And now, almost 11 years later (Dec. 27) here we are :)
Lastly, on Christmas eve we attend the service at church. It is always a beautiful candlelit service where we take time to slow down and truly remember and appreciate the reason we celebrate Christmas. I look forward to being able to tell Collin about the meaning of Christmas and why we have a tree and give presents and everything else!
So, a day early, Merry Christmas from the Biehl Family. We hope you have a wonderful day with your families and that all your days are filled with love, laughter and special memories.
This mid-morning I did 20 minutes on the elliptical, 10 minutes on the spinner, weights, crunches, ladders, jumping jacks and wall sits. 45 minute workout total.
Only 3 days in and I have SO much more energy! Obviously, my body was needing this! The gym is closed tomorrow (because my husband's work is closed) so I'm going to have to get creative with my workout!
Ok, so to begin with, I'm not sure I can even call it baby weight anymore..I mean..Collin's a year old now...so I'm pretty sure it's just good 'ole flab at this point, but it made for a cute post title :)
Secondly, I'm going to be documenting my attempt to get healthy (and drop some lbs). Mostly, this is to hold myself accountable. Basically, I'm tired of feeling fat. I'm tired of feeling ugly. I'm tired of dreading putting on jeans and clothes in general. I'm tired of being tired all the time. When I work out, I feel better all around. Of course, I say these things to my hubby and he gets upset--he doesn't find me fat or ugly (love is blind). LOL. But he knows that I want to feel better and he is supportive--he just doesn't like it when I talk badly about myself. So, from here on, it will be a positive attitude.
So, today was day 1 of my work-out. I weighed in at 180.6 pounds. I worked out for 30 minutes on the Arc Trainer and then did some butterfly presses (70 lbs)- 4 reps of 10. Pushups, wall sits, ladders, and ab work on the exercise ball. In all, I worked out 45 minutes.
I am so thankful that I can work out for free at the Health Club at my husband's work. And best of all, nobody was there. I hate working out in front of people.
So, that's day 1. I plan to work out every day this week and next week. I don't have to babysit so now's the time to get my rear in gear!
Anyone else trying to get healthier? If so, good luck! Let me know I'll be sure to cheer you on!
First, let me say THANK YOU to each and everyone of you who donated to this cause. It is overwhelming to see how many cloth diapering moms and dads were willing to help donate money to people they don't know for the chance to win some fluff. I have never been more proud to be a part of a community than I am right now.
I really wish that I could give each and every one of you something. Seriously, my insides are in knots :S. If you didn't win, I am so sorry :( But again, your money is going to help bring home my gorgeous, beautiful nephew and it will also help make my brother and sister-in-law's dreams of becoming parents true..something they were MADE for. As soon as he is home, you can bet I'll post pictures and give you all an update.
I also want to thank all the sponsors who donated items. You are all AMAZING. Most of you had already contributed to Fluff Baby Home and you didn't even hesitate to donate again. It leaves me without words...thank you so much.
To say that this event has humbled me is an understatement. This world is full of caring, compassionate people and they are right here...

AMP Diapers were born out of necessity. Annie Marie Padorie was looking for a cloth diaper that would work for her baby and would be easy to use, easy to wash, and comfortable. After trying different brands (and having them fail!) she developed her own. Several models later, she's created a much loved product! AMP Diapers are made in Canada! And, one of my lucky readers is going to win an AMP sized Duo pocket diaper with a microfiber insert!
AMP makes several types of diapers!
The One Size Duo: A revolutionary new diaper that combines both the benefits of the AI2 diaper and the pocket diaper all in a one size. The intelligent snap placement allows this diaper to have three different rise options and multiple tummy and thigh settings for a custom fit from birth to potty training (7-38lbs). The outer waterproof layer is a soft durable laminated PUL and the inside is a dreamy soft layer of microfleece that is designed to wick wetness away and keep baby dry and comfortable. The envelope opening is large enough for easy stuffing and is placed at the front of the diaper to make removing the insert easy and mess free.
The soft elastic gathers are incredible at containing leaks while being oh so gentle on baby's tender skin
Four rows of snaps on each side allow separate tummy and thigh adjustments, this means you get a custom fit on any baby.
The super soft fleece keeps the absorbent insert where it belongs so there's no bunching.
The durable waterproof breathable fabric is soft and stretchy these diapers can be washed and dried over and over and still look and work like new.
All in two's are a two part system so washing and drying is quick and easy.
Choose your favorite absorbent inserts from cotton, AMP hemp or AMP bamboo inserts*.
The Stay-Dry AIO: These diapers go on and off just like a disposable. Just the right amount of stretch means that baby can move around freely. The super absorbent core is made of 4 layers of micro-fiber for a soft squishy feel and quick drying time. The super soft fleece wicks wetness away from baby so baby stays dry and comfortable. Our hook and loop tabs stay looking like new and really to stay put in the wash and on your little one. No need for doublers, covers or stuffing. Wrap your baby is this soft, trim, absorbent diaper and your good to go! These diapers are perfect for baby-sitters, grandparents and daycare's.
Hemp Fitteds: AMP Hemp fitted diapers are made of two body layers of hemp fleece (55% hemp/45% cotton) plus an additional layer in the wet zone making three layers of absorbency in the diaper body. An extra three-layer hemp fleece doubler is included with each diaper making a total of 6 absorbent layers of hemp fleece! Soft stretchy elastic gathers at the legs and the back for a great leak-proof fit! Hemp fleece is a nice stretchy fabric that will gently hug your baby. It’s a fantastic fabric for diapers as it’s very absorbent, durable and has antimicrobial properties. High quality resin snaps for ease of use and durability. AMP hemp fitted diapers are very trim fitting and absorbent! Available in two sizes for a great fit from birth to potty learning.
Original Pocket Diaper: The softest, best fitting pocket diapers on the market! These wonderful diapers fit your baby like a soft hug. A PUL waterproof outer combines with a super-soft micro fleece inner for a trim fit. Stuff with your favorite absorbent inserts from cotton, AMP hemp inserts or AMP bamboo inserts* and keep your baby dry and leak-free!
The most versatile cloth diaper available today. Use it as an AI2 (All in two) diaper during the day and just change the absorbing insert when wet or stuff it and use it as a pocket diaper to keep baby dry at night... or use it as a pocket diaper all the time.... These diapers have same amazing fit as the Original AMP AI2's but have the added versatility of a pocket opening for stuffing.

Are you familiar with Mami's and Papi's? They are new to the cloth diaper scene, and I have to tell you, I am impressed. If you travel to their website and visit the link "About Our Family" you immediately fall in love with them. They started their business after "Papi" was injured during military training. "Papi" is a 13 year active duty member of the United State Military (US Marine Corp). "Mami" is a "farm" girl that went to high school, college, and worked outside the home and decided she most wanted to be a mother and a wife! (I hear ya there!)
Here's a little bit more about their family:
"Our children... Allysium (8), Antonio (4), and Alejandro (3 months) are our reason for setting long term goals. We want them to learn the value of hard work and respect for others. We are a christian family, military family, and hard-working family! "
Why did they create Mami's and Papi's?
"We wanted to create something we love and believe in and that we could pass to our children. We also wanted to create a job that would allow "Papi" to work daily with his injury. Our love for eco-friendly items, frugalness, and family led us to create "Mami's & Papi's" cloth diapering resource & MORE. "
What will you find at Mami's and Papi's?
Cloth Diaper brands including Bumgenius, AppleCheeks, Babykicks, BlueBerry, BumGenius, Bummis, Buddha Bunz, Doopsy, Flip, FuzziBunz...the list goes on and on!
